For Autumn-Winter 14/15, Serapian is presenting an archive model inspired by the Serapian family: the Sciaké handbag.

The Sciaké is part of the brand’s heritage, being from its archive of prototypes from the Fifties and Sixties which have been revisited in a contemporary key.Like many Serapian models, this bag too has a family story behind it: Sciaké, first born daughter of the founder Stefano Serapian, represents the family’s female descendants. The model was inspired by her marked aesthetic sensibility in fact. She had an innate sense of style and was also a collector of modern art. Strong-willed and independent, she loved bold contrasts and her ideas often proved brilliant intuitions for the design of new accessories.

The rigorous geometrical design of this handbag, enhanced by its vaguely retro decorative metalwork, has a truly magnetic allure. The tromp-l’oeil effect produced by the side panels, in a different material and tone, is not only a stylistic feature, for it also conceals a functional purpose, that of facilitating opening and maximizing the bag’s capacity.

Select leathers alternate across three-dimensional surfaces, as soft to the touch as cashmere, while lateral inserts in evolution calfskin create a two-tone volumetric effect. The colour palette produces sophisticated contrasts using the following combinations: black and optical white, blue and dark brown, orange and navy blue, dusty pink and black, cream and navy blue, taupe and cream.
